Company Profile
Regional federation of mission-driven not-for-profit community hospices, operates as a partnership of multiple member organizations preserving locally-rooted hospice care by providing shared administrative, IT, clinical, and back-office services. Distinct counter-position to private-equity-led hospice consolidation, supporting tax-exempt nonprofit hospice care for thousands of patients and families annually.
Challenge
Delivering SIA at end of life needs to be expedited
Each hospice patient needs additional care and services at the very end of their life, referred to as Service Intensity Add-on (SIA). A need for SIA requires an immediate hospice response from direct care teams in order to be delivered in time.
This organization sought a systematic analytics-informed approach to ensure patient end-of-life needs were fully met.
Solution
Automated SIA alerts
The WonderBotz automation solution processes patient data from medical evaluations performed by registered nurses (RNs). The solution applies rules to medical codes entered by the RN, sets the patient’s status as “normal” or “SIA”, and, as applicable, sends SIA alerts to the individual members of the patient’s direct care team advising that they need to immediately get to their patient.
Automating SIA alerts saved the organization over 2,000 hours annually and increased revenue. It also substantially increased the amount of SIA care delivered, resulting in improved patient care and services for their families.
