Company Profile
Global publicly-listed media organization with one of the industry’s most extensive libraries of TV and film titles, operates broadcast, cable, premium streaming, film studio, and digital media businesses, plus production, distribution, and advertising solutions across multiple continents. A top-tier player in the U.S. television and broadcast market.
Challenge
Manual handling of access requests
This international media organization hired new employees and contractors throughout the year, resulting in 100,000+ initial or updated access requests across over 100 applications. When a hiring manager made an access request in the internal system, the IT shared services team would manually grant personnel access to an individual application or add them to an active directory (AD) group assignment.
The high volume of requests burdened the IT team and interfered with their other daily tasks, causing long turnaround times for access requests. Leadership sought a solution that would reduce the daily workload while speeding fulfillment times.
Solution
Automated access request processing
The WonderBotz team built an extensible framework automation that can receive, update, and close access request tickets as well as RPA connectors to interface with individual target applications and AD groups. Target applications are added to scope based upon their total annual volume of access requests from highest to lowest. It also generated daily activity reports for infosec review for ongoing SOX compliance.
The solution fully automated the access request process and reduced the workload on the IT team, saving over 6,000 hours per year and reducing time-to-complete by 90%.
