Company Profile

Global publicly-listed media organization with one of the industry’s most extensive libraries of TV and film titles, operates broadcast, cable, premium streaming, film studio, and digital media businesses, plus production, distribution, and advertising solutions across multiple continents. A top-tier player in the U.S. television and broadcast market.

Challenge

Manual offboarding of account access

Employee and contractor offboarding and account dormancy result in 100K+ requests each year to remove or adjust user access to more than 100 applications. Upon request from frontline managers via the internal cloud platform, the IT shared services team would manually cut offboarded or dormant personnel’s access to individual applications or drop them from an active directory (AD) group assignment.

The high volume of requests burdened the IT team and interfered with their other daily tasks, causing long turnaround times for access requests. Leadership sought a solution that would reduce the daily workload while speeding fulfillment times.

Solution

Automated account access offboarding

WonderBotz team members built an extensible framework automation that utilizes the organization’s API to receive, update, and close tickets. They also built RPA connectors to interface with individual target applications and the AD groups. Target applications are added to the scope based upon their total annual volume of access requests from highest to lowest. The solution generates daily activity reports for infosec review and ongoing SOC compliance.

The solution fully automated the account offboarding process and reduced the time-to-complete by 90%. The company saved over 6,000 hours of manual work per year.
